Low noise master clocks
Sercal Electronics offer precision, low-jitter clocks to upgrade your digital source. The standard clock reference inside most CD players is woefully inadequate offering at best a mediocre jitter performance. Timing is the essence of musicality and without an accurate clock in your CD player, you will never hear the original performance as it was intended.
Sercal clocks have been designed to offer an affordable upgrade but also offer very high performance. This difficult double-act is achieved by using state-of-the-art components, such as an incredibly high specification low-noise voltage reference and a very stable oscillator. All components are surface mount. This enables the clock to reject interference, minimise possible jitter and remain incredibly compact.

C1 master clock
Simply use the C1 to replace the stock crystal oscillator in your CD or DVD player and revel in the newfound detail and ambience. Instruments sound more real and are stably located in their own space on the stage. The sense of accurate timing is improved and greater insight into the original performance is achieved.
- superior ultra low dropout precision voltage regulator
- parts carefully selected by the designer only (no cost-cutting)
- mounting holes for optional low noise input regulator (78xx pinouts). See our regulators page for suitable part
- currently available in popular frequencies, including:
- 8.46 Mhz

DAC & decoder clock
Replace the stock crystal (and remove the associated caps) and replace with the C1. The sound quality gains are very significant, especially at such a competitive price. Your CDs will come alive in 3D!
Divide-by-2 circuit (no clock fitted)
This module is a PCB featuring a divide-by-2 circuit to enable a 16.93Mhz clock to output 8.46Mhz. This is useful for the Marantz CD63 servo section. It will work on certain other models too. Simply add a feed from a Sercal C1 or other manufacturer's clock (e.g. Audiocom, TentLabs etc.).
Your CD player's DAC and servo can share the same master clock, but for the most detailed, accurate sound you will need two clocks. Contact us for advice regarding suitability in specific models.
- This pcb requires a clock on the DAC to connect to
- Run this pcb at 5V dc only
Servo clock - 8.46Mhz
Typically installed in the Marantz CD53 & CD63, SE, OSE and KI models. Simply replace the standard crystal with this board and hear a dramatic increase in fine detail. Noises such as piano creaks, rustling of sheet music, and the performer touching the microphone are gloriously revealed where before they were inaudible. These nuances are deliverd in a natural manner and in no way detract from the cohesive musical presentation, characteristic of using these clocks in a CD player.
- Run this clock at 5V dc only
